HOW DO I FIND A LAWYER? |
![]()
(The information on this
site applies to Florida only)
Of course we hope you will consider The McMillen Law Firm. Located in Orlando, we have handled cases all over Florida, including Miami, Fort Lauderdale, West Palm Beach, Boca Raton, Sarasota, Bradenton, Tampa, Melbourne, Vero, Daytona, Orlando, Kissimmee, Sanford, Lakeland, Tavares, Deland, Winter Haven, Crystal River, Ocala, Brooksville, Gainesville, Jacksonville, Tallahassee, and many other Florida cities. Our central location in Orlando makes it easy for us to handle cases anywhere in Florida.
If you do not wish our firm to represent you for any reason, or if we turn your case down and you want another opinion, one of the best ways to find a lawyer is simply by word of mouth. If you have any friends or relatives who are lawyers, ask them for their advice on choosing a lawyer in this specialty. Yellow pages, advertising, and web pages can be helpful provided that the advertisements actually contain useful information about the attorneys and their backgrounds. Three good internet sites for consumers with searchable information about lawyers include:
A word of caution: If you interview more than one lawyer be careful not to choose
a lawyer solely because he predicted the highest amount of money you might be able to recover
for the case out of all the
lawyers you interviewed. That lawyer may be trying to persuade you to hire
him, but then later he can explain to you that the case is not coming along as
good as he had hoped, and therefore the value is actually less than promised. Good lawyers will seldom give an opinion on the value
of a case until they have had a thorough opportunity to investigate the case and have the
records reviewed by experts. Even then, case value is a complicated
proposition and not a shoot-from-the-hip matter.
